Batteries and home energy

Does daytime or evening electricity use change the value of solar?

The timing of electricity use affects how much solar generation you can use directly. Annual consumption alone cannot show whether your demand coincides with sunny hours.

Follow an ordinary day

A household using electricity while panels generate may avoid some grid imports at that time. A household using most electricity later may export more during the day and import again in the evening. Equal annual use does not mean equal solar savings.

Consider changes realistically

Some loads can be moved, such as a dishwasher cycle or scheduled vehicle charging. Others cannot. A savings model should not assume the family will make inconvenient changes every day unless that behaviour is genuinely planned.

Put batteries in the same picture

Storage can move some energy into later hours, with capacity, power and efficiency limits. Compare it with the household’s actual needs rather than assuming it captures every surplus unit. Tell VERA about your usage when discussing the tailored quote; the roof assessment establishes generation potential, not a complete time-resolved household forecast.
