The reasoning behind the result
How accurate is your solar assessment?
VERA models the roof being assessed: its size and shape, where panels could fit and how much electricity they could generate. This gives you a clearer picture of what solar could do for your home before a site survey.
Our solar panel calculator starts with your address. Here’s what goes into the result and what an installer still needs to check.
The calculations happen automatically
You don’t need to supply roof dimensions, angles or technical specifications. VERA analyses the available property data to build the assessment. If that data leaves uncertainty about your building, we may ask for confirmation.
The shape of the roof
Roof area alone does not tell you how many panels can be installed. Individual faces, roof incline, compass direction, boundaries and placement constraints affect the proposed system. VERA brings these together instead of treating every house in a postcode as the same roof.
The light reaching the panels
Generation depends on more than panel count. Facing direction, incline and shading affect the electricity a layout can produce. VERA’s modelling uses available roof and environmental data to estimate generation for the proposed arrangement.
What the data can support
Remote datasets vary in quality, date and coverage. New extensions, changed vegetation, small roof features or ambiguous boundaries may not be represented correctly. Property confirmation and further review are sometimes necessary; a result is not proof that every obstruction has been found.
Estimates have assumptions
Weather varies from year to year. Your electricity use, tariff and installation costs also influence financial outcomes. An annual generation estimate is not a guarantee of future production, and a savings illustration is not a promise about your bill.
How to compare assessments fairly
Compare the same roof faces, panel capacity, shading assumptions and installation constraints. Ask what has been measured, what has been assumed and what a survey still needs to confirm. A different result does not, by itself, prove another assessment is wrong.
A clear boundary
VERA does not remotely certify roof structure, electrical safety or planning consent. A competent installer must confirm the final design and installation requirements.
